Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe has admitted that he is hopeful of having Troy Parrott back available after the Championship break has come to an end.

Parrott, who joined Preston on a season-long loan deal in July and signed a new contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2025 in the process.

The Republic of Ireland international came off the bench for Preston at Norwich City last month and scored his first goal for the lilywhites with ten minutes left to play at Carrow Road, however, he went to ground clutching the back of his leg soon after and was substituted after receiving medical treatment.

Parrott ended up tearing a tendon in his hamstring and had to undergo surgery in a bid to rectify the injury (Troy Parrott/Instagram) with Lowe revealing that he has had his leg brace removed and is now walking around without the aid of crutches.

Preston return to action on December 10th when they make the trip to Ewood Park to face Blackburn Rovers.

Lowe told LancsLive: “Yeah, I spoke to Jacko [Matt Jackson – Physio] to ask when he’ll be back and he said after the World Cup, so I will just leave that to him.

“But he is out of the brace now and walking around, off crutches, which is a good sign. How much speed he’ll need to get up to when he’s back remains to be seen, but hopefully we’ve got him in and around us after the break.

“He won’t be rushed, though, that is one thing we won’t do. Touch wood he doesn’t have a setback for whatever reason and that he can just go all out and continue. We’ll be governed by the specialist as well when he goes back and sees him. But he is in and around the place on a daily basis, still bubbly and that’s what we want, so yeah.”

The injury came at the worst possible time for Parrott, having just scored his first goal for the club and would have been hoping to kick on with many more.  It seems doubtful that given the nature of his injury and lack of match fitness the Blackburn game could be a realistic option for his return.
