Manager reveals potential injury boost for Spurs ahead of Man City clash

Tottenham may get a huge boost ahead of their clash against Manchester City on Sunday after Pep Guardiola suggested that Aymeric Laporte, Benjamin Mendy and Fernandinho are all doubts.

Tottenham will welcome Pep Guardiola’s side to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday as they attempt to close the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea.

City, meanwhile, know that they need to be almost flawless in order to have a shot of catching Liverpool and so will be coming to North London with three points in mind.

The away side come into the game as favourites and, given Tottenham’s inconsistencies so far this campaign, few would dispute that the Lilywhites have their work cut out if they wish to get something from the game.

However, they might receive a boost ahead of the game as Pep Guardiola confirmed after City’s League Cup clash against Manchester United that Laporte, Mendy, and Fernandinho are all doubts Saturday.

BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone quotes the Man City manager as saying, “Laporte, Fernandinho, Mendy. OK for West Ham, maybe not Tottenham.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that City’s defence is their weak point as many teams have shown that they can be got at. With the likes of Laporte and Fernandinho missing, Spurs shouldn’t be scared to take the game to their opponents on Saturday as we have the ability to hurt them on the break with the likes of Son and Dele.
