Manager reveals rumoured Spurs target will not play again for current club

Reported Spurs target Ryan Fraser will not play again for Bournemouth, manager Eddie Howe has revealed (Sky Sports).

It was revealed earlier this week that Fraser has refused to sign a short-term extension at Bournemouth which would see him play the rest of the season on the south coast (Guardian).

Fraser has rejected the short-term contract on the basis of ensuring he does not pick up an injury which could affect his chances of finding a new club in the summer.

Ahead of Bournemouth’s game against Crystal Palace, Howe revealed the Scottish winger will not feature again for the club following his decision.

“[Fraser] has now played his last game for the football club. He won’t be involved with us for the last nine games,” Howe said.

The 26-year-old will be out of contract come the end of the month with reported interest from numerous Premier League clubs (Express).

“I only want players who are fully focused on the relegation battle we have ahead and I’m looking forward to doing that with my squad.”

“Ryan, due to his contract situation, can’t commit to that. Two games for us wasn’t going to make the difference. We need a nine-game commitment and he can’t give that at this moment in time,” Howe added.

Fraser joined Bournemouth seven years ago from Scottish side, Aberdeen in a deal believed to be worth around £400k (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

It is easy to see both sides of this argument. One being disloyalty on Fraser’s side for not signing the extension, however, when you look at the injuries picked up in the Manchester City vs Arsenal game the other night you can understand his thinking.
