Manager reveals that Paul Gascoigne may not play for the legends in test event

Tottenham Hotspur’s first test event at the new stadium was an overwhelming success last weekend, as eager fans flocked to see the ground for the first time.

Spurs’ under 18 side took on Southampton u18s in the test event in front of 30,000 supporters, winning the game 3-1.

Despite the incredible reaction to the stadium itself, it is safe to say that fans may be a little more excited about the next event featuring some club legends.

Tottenham’s legends side will take on Inter Forever, the Inter Milan legends team, this coming weekend.

Fan favourites such as Rafa Van Der Vaart, Dimitar Berbatov, Robbie Keane, Jermaine Jenas, and Jurgen Klinsmann have all been confirmed to appear.

However, despite being tipped, Paul Gascoigne is still only a maybe for the event as he continues to work on his fitness.

Legends manager Gary Mabbutt has revealed that they are checking in with Gazza every day to see how his preparations are going, with the hope that he can appear, but nothing is confirmed.

Mabbutt said (talkSPORT): “Since I was given the role as manager, I contacted players three or four weeks ago initially to see if they were available.

“I contacted Gazza – we know what a great player and a huge fans’ favourite he is. With Paul, the idea is obviously very exciting but he’s having to evaluate his fitness.

“At the moment nothing has yet been confirmed, but we are talking on virtually a daily basis.

“So nothing is confirmed yet, but if we can get Paul there it would be fantastic.”
