Manager claims striker who Spurs reportedly bid for last year will not sign new contract

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Andrea Belotti could be available on a free transfer next summer after Torino boss Ivan Juric confirmed the striker will not be signing a new contract.

Belotti has been on Tottenham’s radar for a long time, with the North Londoners reportedly seeing an offer of around €50m (£46.3m) for the 27-year-old rejected by Torino in the summer of 2020.

Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma were credited with an interest in snapping up the Italian international this summer but the striker once again ended up staying put at Turin.

Belotti is now into the final year of his contract at the Olympic Grande Torino Stadium and president Urbano Cairo revealed back in July that the club had offered him a new deal.

CalcioMercato suggested last month that the 27-year-old might not make a decision on his future until the end of the current season.

Romano has now backed up that claim and went on to reveal what Juric said about his star-striker.

Here’s what the Italian journalist tweeted about Belotti’s situation:

Spurs Web Opinion

I have been a fan of Belotti for a long-time and I believe he would be the ideal backup to Kane. However, I do not think the Italian international would be open to coming to Spurs and playing second-fiddle to the 28-year-old. In fact, I would be surprised if Belotti left Serie A.
