Manager sidesteps question on Bruno Fernandes’ future amidst reported Spurs interest

With only a few days of the transfer window to go, some Spurs fans, including myself are getting extremely concerned about the lack of potential recruits with Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke the only players to sign for the club this summer.

That is likely to change in the next few days as the club is said to be pursuing deals for some fresh faces.

One of the players being linked heavily with Spurs is Sporting Lisbon midfielder, Bruno Fernandes (The Express).

The 24-year-old was in impressive form last season netting 32 goals in all competitions for the Portuguese giants (according to Transfermarket.com).

Manchester United and Tottenham were thought to be going head to head for Fernandes but recent reports indicate that Man Utd have pulled out of the race, leaving Spurs with a clear run at the midfielder (BBC).

Sporting coach Marcel Keizer was quizzed has been quizzed about the former Sampdoria midfielder.

Speaking after Sporting’s disastrous 5-0 loss to Benfica in the Portuguese Super Cup, Keizer told O Jogo: “Bruno Fernandes is an important player.

“It is not a question for me [about whether he will stay or not]. It is for the management”

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on Fernandes’ reaction after the final whistle, it does look like he has played his last match for Sporting.

It is highly unlikely that the club will be able to sign both Fernandes and Giovani Lo Celso in the next few days. We prefer Lo Celso over the Portuguese as we think he will be a better fit for Tottenham.
