Manchester City send classy message to Tottenham following Champions League clash

Despite losing 4-3 on the night to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, Mauricio Pochettino’s men qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in the clubs history.

The aggregate score of 4-4 saw the Lilywhites advance on away goals.

This ecstatic tie was full of drama from the very beginning until the very end.

City’s Raheem Sterling gave the Citizens an early lead just after four minutes of playing.

Tottenham, however, responded very quickly with two goals from Heung-min Son in seventh and 10th minute of the tie.

This meant that the Manchester club had to score at least four goals in order to qualify.

Nonetheless, after 11 minutes of playing Bernardo Silva found an equaliser for the club from the northwest of England.

Sterling’s effort in 21st minute put City in front.

The first half finished 3-2 to Pep Guardiola’s side.

Second half had two goals in store for the fans. Sergio Aguero found the net after 59 minutes of playing, which meant that the Lilywhites had to score at least once to advance to the semi-finals.

They did so, thanks to Fernando Llorente’s strike in 73rd minute.

In the very late stages of the game, Raheem Sterling found the net once again, only for the goal to be ruled out as offside by VAR a minute later.

Spurs will face Ajax Amsterdam in the semi-final of the competition.
