Manchester United boss makes claim about where Spurs could finish in the table

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted the race for the top-four is not over and believes Spurs can still creep into the final Champions League spot.

The Norweigan boss admitted there were seven teams which are still actively fighting for a place alongside newly-crowned champions, Liverpool and Manchester City in the top-four.

Tottenham currently lie in seventh place on 45 points, with United four points ahead of them in sixth place and Wolves in fifth having played an extra game (PL).

“I think there are many teams for that battle for third-fourth [spot],” said Solskjaer via Metro.

“Leicester, Chelsea, us, Wolves doing really well, Tottenham, Arsenal and Sheffield United wanna put a run together and put a challenge in there.

“It’s exciting for fans, been waiting for football that matters, we want fans in the stadiums but at least now we can sit back and watch some exciting games.”

Given Manchester City’s expected UEFA ban which will see them banned from playing in any European competition next season, fifth place will be expected to be good enough to claim a spot in the next campaign of the Champions League (MEN).

Arsenal and Sheffield United sit just a couple of points behind Spurs but the United boss remains adamant that they are still capable of sealing a Champions League spot.

Ole is being very safe by saying this, however, being realistic the likes of Spurs, Sheffield United and Arsenal are playing for that fifth-spot with Manchester City expected to be hit with the UEFA ban.
