Manchester United ready to challenge Tottenham for £88m Bundesliga attacker

Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for one of the most exciting wingers in the Bundesliga, but they have just learned that they face even more competition for the player than they initially thought.

It has been widely reported that signing a top-class wide-forward is Tottenham’s priority in January, and the Lilywhites are thought to have their eye on one RB Leipzig star.

It has been claimed that Spurs have scouted Diomande extensively this season and have been impressed by the Ivory Coast international’s sensational rise.

Some sources have claimed over recent weeks that Spurs and Liverpool have held advanced talks over a deal for the Leipzig winger, but the competition for the 19-year-old has now intensified even further.

Man United turn attention to Tottenham target Yan Diomande

According to a report in talkSPORT, Man United have become the latest club to enter the race for the pacy wide-man.

The outlet claims that the Red Devils have identified Diomande as an alternative to Antoine Semenyo, who is wanted by other big clubs in the Premier League.

The report backs up what we have heard from other sources by stating that Leipzig have put a £87m price tag on the teenager ahead of the January window.

It was reported by Fichajes a week ago that Liverpool have also settled on Diomande as their number one target to replace Mohammed Salah.

Spurs warned against Diomande pursuit

A couple of days ago, journalist Dean Jones suggested that Tottenham are unlikely to win the race for Diomande.

Jones pointed out that just like with Semenyo, the Leipzig man is not short of options across the Premier League and Europe.

He suggested the same about Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, adding that Tottenham’s plans for January look ‘too ambitious’.
