Manchester United will challenge Tottenham for nine-goal Premier League striker

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to face competition from Manchester United in their pursuit of a Premier League striker who has scored nine times this term.

Thomas Frank has had major issues upfront, with Randal Kolo Muani not having the desired impact since his summer switch and Richarlison blowing hot and cold.

While Dominic Solanke is edging closer to full fitness, it has been reported that Tottenham are on the lookout for another centre-forward.

It has been claimed that Spurs could try again to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta in January after exploring a deal for him in the summer, but another Premier League side also wants the Crystal Palace man.

Manchester United keen on landing Tottenham target Jean-Philippe Mateta

Earlier this month, it emerged that Palace are struggling to tie down Mateta to a new contract, with the striker’s current deal running until 2027.

This has now been backed up by Football Insider, who claim that the Eagles’ efforts to agree a new deal with the Frenchman have failed.

The outlet claims that Man United are ready to turn their attention to Mateta as Ruben Amorim’s men look to add firepower to their frontline.

The Red Devils have been admirers of the 28-year-old for a long time and are keeping close tabs on his situation at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace are making plans for life after Mateta

Football Insider say that Palace are making contingency plans after failing to tie down the former Mainz man to a new deal.

It is revealed that Oliver Glasner’s side have already started identifying potential replacements for the centre-forward.

However, it was claimed by TEAMtalk last week that Palace will not sell Mateta in January, and interested clubs would likely have to wait until the end of the season.
