Manor Solomon makes Harry Kane admission after his first Spurs start

Manor Solomon says Harry Kane has been very welcoming and admitted that he hopes to learn a lot from the striker at Tottenham.

Solomon made his first appearance for Tottenham in the pre-season friendly against West Ham United at the Optus Stadium.

With Son being rested as he continues to work his way up to full fitness after only joining the squad a few days ago, the Israeli international got the nod to start on the left alongside Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski.

Solomon showed plenty of energy both on and off the ball and troubled the Hammers defence with his direct running.

The winger linked up well with Kane on a couple of occasions but there is a question mark regarding whether he will be able to build on that partnership, with the speculation over the England captain’s future continuing to run rife (Florian Plettenberg).

The 23-year-old is certainly hopeful that the centre-forward stays, remarking that he is excited about the prospect of learning from the star striker.

Solomon told Football.London about Kane after the 3-2 loss against West Ham: “He was really welcoming. You see that he is a big character and everyone wants to follow him.

“He’s a big, big player and we hope to play with him.

“I am really excited to play with such a big player like Harry Kane. It’s an honour for me. I want to help him and I want to learn from him.”

Kane understandably looked a little sluggish, having joined the group for pre-season quite late.

We certainly looked much more threatening in the second half when we had Richarlison making runs in behind, which forced the Hammers back and created more space for our midfielders.

While Kane is undoubtedly one of the best in the world, there is an argument to be made that Postecoglou’s system would work better with a more mobile forward who can press incessantly like Richarlison.
