Manuel Neuer sticks up for Tottenham star after embarassing 7-2 defeat

Tottenham Hotspur were well and truly humiliated in the Champions League this week as the German champions, Bayern Munich, came to town.

Spurs started the game in top form, running the Bayern defence ragged and scoring a well-deserved goal through Heung Min Son.

However, after Bayern grabbed one back against the run of play, all sense of Tottenham’s shape and drive went out the window.

Spurs conceded another before half time to go into the break 2-1 down, before shipping another five in the second period, eventually losing the game 7-2.

After gaining a bit of prestige and respect from making the final last year, this comes as a shock embarrassment for the Lilywhites, despite their up and down start to the season.

While the vast majority of defensive players made huge errors in the match, the scoreline was perhaps very harsh on Hugo Lloris.

The Frenchman was unable to get anywhere near Bayern’s seven goals, with each of them being placed clinically in the corners of his net.

Somehow, Lloris didn’t exactly make any mistakes but ended up picking the ball out of his net all night, something that his opposing keeper, Manuel Neuer, felt sorry for.
