‘Many changes’ – Journalist reveals injury blow for Chelsea ahead of Spurs clash

According to Football.London’s Adam Newson (as relayed by Simon Johnson), Thomas Tuchel is expected to rest several of his first-team players for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Antonio Conte now has a chance to reach his first cup final as Spurs boss just a little over two months into his reign in North London.

The Italian will not want to pass up on the opportunity to break Tottenham’s 13-year trophy drought but his side will first have to get past Chelsea over two legs, with the first match set to take place at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

The Blues are already expected to be without Edouard Mendy and Hakim Ziyech, with the pair set to join Senegal and Morocco squads respectively for the African Cup of Nations, which starts this weekend.

Johnson has now taken to social media to reveal that Tuchel is also expected to be without Trevor Chalobah, who aggravated his hamstring problem in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.

The journalist also added that Tuchel is also expected to rest several other first-team players, who have knocks or are suffering from fatigue, for Wednesday’s clash.

Spurs Web Opinion

If we can somehow walk out of Stamford Bridge with a draw on Wednesday, we will be giving ourselves a great chance going into the second leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next week. I expect Conte to name a full-strength side for the cup tie.
