Toby Alderweireld’s future at Tottenham Hotspur could be decided over the next seven days.
The Belgian is in the last twelve months of his contract in North London and the agreement contains a £25million transfer release clause which can see him depart the club for a cut price deal, with any potential suitors having to do so by Friday July 26 or risk paying a substantial amount more for his services (Metro).
Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Alderweireld was included in Tottenham’s pre-season tour of the Far East where they will face Juventus tomorrow followed by an all Premier League clash against Manchester United in Shanghai.
While the likes of Danny Rose, Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou were left behind to sort out potential transfers away from the club (Spurs official), it can only be considered a positive that the 30-year-old is on tour.
Alderweireld took to Twitter yesterday to reflect on his time in Singapore to date and to share with supporters that he is looking forward to the match against Juventus.

Judging by the reaction of the Spurs fans, there is no doubt that the vast majority want him to remain at the club.
Toby, I am speaking for all Spurs fans. Please sign a new contract.
