Rumoured Tottenham target, Marcel Sabitzer, refused to speak about his future until after the European Championship but did reveal his admiration for Harry Kane.
While the Tottenham backline received a lot of criticism last season, another issue for the North Londoners was their lack of goals from midfield.
Dele Alli’s struggle for game time and form certainly did not help while injuries prevented Giovani Lo Celso from getting a run of matches and hitting his stride.
If reports are to be believed, one way in which Spurs could potentially look to solve that problem is by making a move for Sabitzer.
The Austrian was heavily linked with a move to Spurs during the January transfer window and the North Londoners are reportedly laying the groundwork to pull of a potential deal for him in the summer. Even Alasdair Gold has backed Tottenham to compete for Sabitzer’s signature.
However, the RB Leipzig star chose to keep his cards close to his chest when asked about his future.
When quizzed on potentially playing in England, Sabitzer told PA Media’s Jonathan Veal: “I can’t really say, I am focusing on the task that I have here with the national team.
“Everything that has to do with the club and future has zero importance for me at the moment if I want to be successful with this team at the European Championship.
“I am not going to give any updates before the end of the Euros.”
However, Sabitzer did have some high words of praise for Kane.
He said this about the Tottenham star: “Lewandowski is just the best in the world in the centre forward position, but Harry Kane, I watch a lot of Premier League and you can see how good he is and what he can do.
“He scored over 20 goals and over 10 assists, so I do know what qualities he has and he can get something out of any situation.”
