Marcus Rashford is ‘not convinced’ about Tottenham move this summer

As Tottenham Hotspur explore a move for Marcus Rashford this summer, it has now been claimed that the Lilywhites are likely to fall short in their efforts to land the Manchester United player.

It was reported last week that Tottenham are plotting a move to sign Marcus Rashford, who has been in sublime form since his loan move to Aston Villa in January.

With a permanent move to Villa Park thought to be in doubt for the 28-year-old, it presents Spurs with an opportunity to bring him to N17.

However, some pundits have questioned if Rashford will want to move to Tottenham, given how poor a campaign the Lilywhites have had.

Mick Brown reveals Marcus Rashford’s stance on Tottenham

Former Tottenham and Man United scout Mick Brown has revealed that according to his sources, the Lilywhites are indeed seriously exploring a move to sign Marcus Rashford.

However, Brown suggested that Spurs have a few other issues to iron out first and also revealed that the Man United man is not too enthusiastic about the idea of a switch to North London.

He told Football Insider: “Tottenham are looking into what it would take to sign Rashford. But they have to make a decision about what direction they’re going in.

“You can’t just throw a load of players in and hope it works, they need to find some stability and I don’t think that’s what Marcus would give them.

“From what I hear, he’s not convinced by that move either. He wants to be playing Champions League football and be competing at the highest level.”

Another stumbling block for Spurs in Rashford pursuit

Apart from needing to convince the player on the move, Brown reveals that Spurs have another major roadblock to overcome to secure the transfer.

He suggested that Marcus Rashford’s £300,000 per week salary would pose a problem for Tottenham, with the forward needing to take a big pay cut to sign for the Lilywhites.

Brown added: “I’m also not sure he’s going to want to take a big pay cut. Plus, Tottenham aren’t going to pay his wages and I think that’s going to be a problem for him because Villa won’t be paying that amount of money either. So it looks like it might be difficult to do, I don’t think he’ll end up at Tottenham to be honest.”
