Marine FC have announced that all Tottenham Hotspur season ticket holders would be allowed free entry into one of the non-league club’s matches next season.
There was understandably plenty of excitement at Marine when the eighth-tier side were drawn against Tottenham in the third round of the FA Cup.
With Premier League leaders Spurs sitting 168 places ahead of the non-league club in the English footballing pyramid, the tie represents the biggest gulf in history between two teams at this stage of the competition.
Although there were initially some suggestions that the tie scheduled for January 10 could be moved to Anfield, Marine chairman Paul Leary insisted that the club remain hopeful of holding the match at Rossett Park, which has a capacity of 3185.
However, with away fans not allowed to attend the match due to the COVID-protocols, Marine have decided to make a touching gesture by allowing Spurs fans, who have season tickets at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, free entry into one of their games next campaign.
Current restrictions mean @SpursOfficial fans can’t travel to watch their team play Marine in the @EmiratesFACup.
As a result, Marine has announced that all Spurs season ticket holders will be given free entry to one Marine league game next season. #COYMhttps://t.co/DRgnD8Y8ZJ
