Mark Lawrenson on whether Spurs will beat Burnley

BBC football pundit Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s match at Burnley.

The Clarets are in good form having gone unbeaten in their last seven Premier League matches and currently occupy fifteenth place in the table.

As expected, midfielder Dele Alli once again misses our due to the left hamstring injury he picked up during the late win at Fulham last month and his continuing his rehabilitation.

However, there is good news with the return of Harry Kane and Ben Davies to first team training.

If Kane is not ready to feature, Spurs can certainly rely on Heung-min Son who has scored eight goals in his last eight Premier League appearances for Tottenham, netting in each of his last three in a row. He last scored in four consecutive top-flight appearances in April 2017.

Lawrenson, however, feels that Tottenham’s title hopes will take a significant dent by only managing to draw against Sean Dyche’s side.

He told BBC Sport: “It is great news for Tottenham that Harry Kane is back in training, although I would be surprised if he is thrown straight back in for this game.

“Spurs are on a good run, and have shown they do not rely on the England striker, but I see this trip as a very tough test for them.

“I have been very impressed with Burnley in recent weeks. They are unbeaten in the league since Boxing Day, and their performances have been as good as their results.

“A big improvement in the Clarets’ defence has played a big part in that and I don’t think they will give much away on Saturday either.

“Lawro’s prediction: 1-1.”
