Mark Lawrenson on who will come out on top between Chelsea and Tottenham

BBC football pundit Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League match at Chelsea.

Spurs make the trip south to face their London rivals in what could be a significant result come the end of the season.

Chelsea currently sit in fourth place in the table where a victory for Spurs would see them overtake Frank Lampard’s side whilst also gaining a two point advantage.

Jose Mourinho will return to Stamford Bridge for the first time since taking over from Mauricio Pochettino and will likely receive a hostile reception from the Chelsea fans despite his previous track record of delivering silverware at his former employer.

Spurs are without the services of both of their prolific goalscorers with Harry Kane and Heung-min Son both sidelined after undergoing surgery for respective hamstring and arm injuries.

Lawrenson has tipped Chelsea to extend their advantage over Spurs to four points with victory and believes that Mourinho’s lack of firepower will see Lampard register successive wins over his ex-boss.

He told BBC Sport: I am going with Chelsea here. Their win at Tottenham before Christmas was one of Frank Lampard’s best moments as Blues boss, and I think he will do the double and take another three points off Jose Mourinho on Saturday.

“It is always interesting whenever Mourinho goes back to Stamford Bridge, but I don’t think this will be a happy return for him.

“He is running out of options up front because of the amount of injuries Spurs have had, and I just cannot see them causing Chelsea many problems.

“Lawro’s prediction: 2-0.”
