Mark Lawrenson on who will win between Spurs and West Ham

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s return to Premier League action this weekend.

Jose Mourinho’s side host West Ham United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon looking to build upon the impressive 6-1 demolition of former champions Manchester United prior to the international break.

Gareth Bale could be in line to make his first appearance since returning to the club on a season long loan deal from Real Madrid after he recently returned to training following a knee issue which has kept him sidelined to date (Daily Telegraph).

Heading into the match, Spurs sit in sixth place in the table having won two, drawn one and lost one of the opening four top flight fixtures.

Lawrenson believes that it will be Tottenham who will secure the bragging rights in the London derby with a tight scoreline against David Moyes’ side.

He told the BBC: “West Ham have won both games while their manager David Moyes has been in isolation recovering from coronavirus, but he should be back in the dugout for this one.

“We might get a first look at Gareth Bale in action for Tottenham too, if he is fit, but they have been doing pretty well without him to be honest.

“I’m going for a Spurs win, whether Bale features or not.

“Lawro’s prediction: 2-1.”
