Mark Lawrenson predicts Spurs vs Everton score, with one star to make a ‘big difference’

According to Mark Lawrenson, Tottenham Hotspur will beat Everton this weekend, with the goalscoring form of Richarlison potentially haunting his former side and proving to be the difference between the two teams.

It has been a season of ups and downs for both Spurs and Everton already. Tottenham and their new manager Ange Postecoglou made a flying start to the campaign, unbeaten in the first ten games and sitting at the top of the Premier League.

Injuries and suspensions to key players then saw the Lilywhites pick up just one point from a possible 15, before back-to-back wins against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have put them back on track of late.

Everton, on the other hand, have found a silver lining in the rather messy situation of being deducted ten points for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations. It seems the setback has only spurred the team on, and they are now unbeaten in four games.

Can Spurs beat Everton?

Conducting his regular Premier League predictions for Paddy Power ahead of the week’s action, Mark Lawrenson backed Tottenham to take all three points at home to the Toffees on Saturday afternoon.

He said: “Tottenham have been really good and they beat Forest last weekend. Everton have had a really good run but I still think Spurs will win. Richarlison’s started scoring which will make a big difference to them.

“If Everton can deal with that 25-30 minute onslaught at the start they might be okay but I just can’t see it.”

Prediction: Tottenham 2-0 Everton.

Spurs Web Opinion

Both teams will be right up for this one, and both will be especially desperate to keep their winning form going. I think our home advantage will be the difference in this one, and we’ll have just too much for the Everton defence to deal with.
