Mark Lawrenson predicts who will come out on top between Spurs and Newcastle

BBC football pundit Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side go into the fixture looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the new campaign and will certainly be a match where they will be expected to pick up the victory.

Newcastle on the other hand, have suffered back to back defeats which included a 3-1 loss to top flight newcomers Norwich City last time out.

Spurs are boosted by the return of Heung-min Son who has served a three match suspension.

Newcastle are expected to have £40million club record signing Joelinton available after the striker hobbled off against Norwich, but scans showed there was no significant damage to his hip (Telegraph).

Lawrenson believes that it will be Tottenham who will continue to pile the misery on new Magpies boss Steve Bruce with a comfortable win in N17.

He told BBC Sport: “Tottenham are getting used to playing at home now – that usually takes a bit of time.

“Meanwhile, Newcastle are still a bit all over the place. They have already lost to Norwich and Arsenal but remember, former boss Rafael Benitez had a bad start last season and they picked things up. Steve Bruce has made some new signings and the fans just need to get behind the team now.

“Lawro’s prediction: 2-0.”
