Mark Lawrenson predicts who will win between Spurs and Everton

BBC football pundit Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Everton.

The Toffees are the visitors to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tomorrow evening and a victory for Carlo Ancelotti’s side would see them overtake Spurs in the Premier League table.

Jose Mourinho will be looking for his side to bounce back from a disappointing 3-1 loss at Sheffield United on Thursday which all but ended their hopes of Champions League qualification for a fifth successive season and there are doubts whether they can even qualify for the Europa League.

Tottenham’s current 14 game unbeaten run against Everton is their joint longest run without defeat against a specific opponent in the Premier League (also 14 games against Sunderland between 2010 – 2017 and Swansea City between 2011 – 2018).

Lawrenson has tipped Spurs to take all three points from the top flight encounter against Everton and believes they will put in a much better performance than what was witnessed at Bramall Lane.

He told BBC Sport: “When you watch Everton, you can see they are slowly morphing into an Italian team under Carlo Ancelotti. I never thought they would be able to get him as manager, but his arrival has been a real coup.

“The Toffees are going to be an interesting team next season, because they have got money and they will back Ancelotti in the transfer market. They will be targeting the top six, for starters.

“So will Tottenham. After what happened to them against Sheffield United on Thursday, I would expect a reaction from Jose Mourinho’s side. It will be a good battle, but I’m going for a Spurs win.

“Lawro’s prediction: 2-0.
