Mark Lawrenson shares his FA Cup prediction ahead of Wycombe v Spurs

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Wycombe Wanderers this evening.

Jose Mourinho’s side make the trip to Adams Park with a fifth round tie against Everton at Goodison Park the reward for the winner.

Wycombe come into the tie currently bottom of the Championship having only won three of their twenty four league matches played this season.

The Chairboys booked their place in the fourth round having demolished Preston North End 4-0, while Spurs were comfortable 5-0 winners against non league minnows, Marine.

Lawrenson acknowledged that Spurs will have one eye on Thursday evening’s Premier League clash against Liverpool in North London but believes that Mourinho will pick a strong enough side to be able to win the tie.

He told BBC Sport: “Wycombe hammered my lot, Preston, in the last round while Tottenham made a load of changes but still easily saw off Marine.

“I am sure Spurs boss Jose Mourinho will have an eye on next Thursday’s game with Liverpool but he might pick a slightly stronger team for this tie. I don’t see them slipping up.

“Lawro’s prediction: 0-2.”

Everton will certainly be a tough test in the next round if Spurs can navigate the banana skin at Adams Park.  However, the club must also weigh up if beating Liverpool on Thursday is just as important for their top four hopes.
