Mark Lawrenson shares his prediction ahead of Spurs v Sheffield United

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League match against Sheffield United tomorrow evening.

The Blades head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium having already been relegated back to the Championship while Spurs are hoping for a strong finish to the season to try and qualify for the Europa League with the top four looking to be a foregone conclusion.

Lawrenson admits that he was surprised by the lack of quality which Ryan Mason’s side showed during the Carabao Cup final last weekend, but expects them to bounce back with a much-needed victory despite claiming that the 29-year-old got his tactics wrong during the encounter.

The 63-year-old expects Spurs to be able to create more chances against United after having their backs to the wall for ninety minutes at Wembley.

Mason confirmed yesterday that he only has Ben Davies unavailable for selection, with the left-back having been sidelined for a number of weeks already.

Lawrenson told the BBC: “I was surprised by how poor Tottenham were in last weekend’s Carabao Cup final. They got their tactics all wrong.

‘Early on, they couldn’t get the ball off Manchester City and they couldn’t get out of their half. City basically battered them without scoring a goal before the break and, even in the second half, Spurs never looked like winning the game.

‘Things should be a bit easier for them against Sheffield United and they should create some chances this time too.

“I know Sheffield United had a good win against Brighton last time out but the Seagulls still had plenty of opportunities to get something out of the game. Tottenham will find a way through.

“Lawro’s prediction: 3-0”
