Mark Lawrenson shares his Tottenham vs Aston Villa score prediction

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his score prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Aston Villa tomorrow afternoon.

Tottenham have lost their last three Premier League games by an aggregate score of 9-1. They last lost four in a row in the competition in November 2004 (a run of 6).

Last Sunday’s toothless defeat against Arsenal in the North London derby which saw Spurs 3-0 down at half-time has seen Nuno Espirito Santo come under pressure as a result of the humiliating loss.

While Spurs did beat NS Mura in the Europa Conference League, the visit of Aston Villa to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will certainly pose a tougher test.

Villa are looking for three consecutive Premier League victories for the first time since winning their first four games in the competition last season and will be high on confidence after beating Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Lawrenson has tipped Tottenham to bounce back to winning ways against Dean Smith’s side to end a run of three top flight fixtures without registering a single point.

He told BBC Sport: “Aston Villa are ticking along nicely and got a great win at Old Trafford last time out. They played well, and stuck at it too – they were so determined, and it paid off.

“The opposite was the case for Tottenham in their dismal derby defeat against Arsenal. That was a real worry – if you cannot get yourself motivated for a game like that one, then you have got serious problems.

“Nuno Espirito Santo has to improve the mood and morale in his camp, but he also needs to get Harry Kane firing. I think that will happen soon, which is why I am backing Spurs here.

“Lawro’s prediction: 2-1.”
