Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League match against Aston Villa which takes place on Sunday afternoon.
Last time out, Lawrenson predicted the Spurs would beat Crystal Palace 2-0, when in fact, it ended up as a 3-1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham are looking for revenge having lost at home to Villa earlier this season, in a match which many Spurs fans remember for Matty Cash’s strong challenge on Rodrigo Bentancur which sidelined the Uruguayan through injury having only recently returned to action.
Lawrenson believes Spurs will draw at Aston Villa
Tottenham make the trip to the West Midlands knowing that they need to take all three points to keep the pressure on Villa, who currently occupy fourth place in the Premier League table and could open up a eight point advantage in the race for the final, guaranteed Champions League qualification place.
A win for Spurs would narrow the gap to just two points, with a game in hand, a massive away fixture against London rivals Chelsea.
Lawrenson told Paddy Power: “This will be a good game, it will be very, very open. You’d certainly expect goals in it but I think it might be a draw.
“Aston Villa 2-2 Tottenham.”
SpursWeb Opinion
Tottenham need to start the match brightly and cannot afford to go behind in the game in the same manner as they did at home to Palace.
Villa were in action on Thursday evening in a 0-0 draw away to Ajax, so Ange Postecoglou‘s men will certainly be the fresher of the two sides.
