Mason argues Spurs don’t need Champions League to keep Harry Kane

Ryan Mason has claimed that he does not think Spurs need to qualify for the Champions League in order to keep Harry Kane at the club.

Mason and Kane both came through the Tottenham academy during their younger years as boyhood fans before breaking into the senior side.

However, now at the age of 27 and regarded as one of the best strikers in world football, Harry Kane is yet to win a single trophy during his time at the club.

Kane pushed for the Premier League title with Spurs but fell short in consecutive campaigns in 2015/16 and 2016/17. He has also lost two League Cup finals and Champions League final with the Lilywhites, handing him three runners up medals.

It has been reported that Kane could push to leave Tottenham this summer in search of a move to a bigger club where he can win trophies if they do not qualify for the Champions League (Sky Sports).

However, the man himself claimed that he would not make any decisions on his future until after the Euros with England this summer.

Asked whether Spurs need Champions League football to keep Kane, Mason said (Alasdair Gold): “I don’t think so. Harry Kane loves this football club, in the past eight or nine years as one of the best strikers in the world.

“Everyone knows that, we know that and hopefully, Harry knows that.”
