‘Massive problem’ – Arsenal legend worried by Spurs player’s comments

Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has predicted massive problems behind the scenes for Tottenham after Hugo Lloris’ comment last week.

The Spurs captain came out after the club’s embarrassing defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League to give a brutally honest interview.

Lloris called the defeat a ‘disgrace’ and seemed to hint at a lack of togetherness behind the scenes at the North London club.

Wright argued that the Spurs players are not currently happy with the way in which they are playing under Mourinho, questioning why the head coach approaches games so negatively.

Tottenham are out of the FA Cup and Europa League this season, meaning that their only route to a trophy comes in the Carabao Cup Final and their only chances of Champions League football next season come in the form of a top-four finish.

Wright argued that Spurs should have pushed forward with the momentum when they were top of the league in December, but failed to do so.

He said (Kelly and Wrighty Show on Optus Sport as quoted by HITC): “When that [Lloris’ interview] is coming out, there’s problems. There’s massive problems there.

“You look at the way they play, you look at the way the Tottenham players are, they’re not happy with the way that they’ve played.

“Even when they were top, and people said ‘yeah they’re top but you’d take it’, Tottenham fans wouldn’t take it.

“Tottenham fans wanted to really push the momentum and that’s what they should have done. They had the capabilities to really push forward and let people see they’re serious about what they’re doing.

“But it’s like that second season at Chelsea, when they really blasted the league, and then in the latter stages, they just stopped.

“You think why does he go so negative? Tottenham have the capability to really cause teams problems but the manager is not going to let them off that leash.”
