Tottenham Hotspur’s Mathys Tel has revealed the four Spurs players he wants to form a close relationship with.
Undoubtedly, Tottenham Hotspur’s 19-year-old deadline-day signing, Mathys Tel, has been adjusting well to life in north London.
Since joining, the young Frenchman has played more games in his brief spell at Spurs than he did at Bayern Munich.
In fact, that was a key reason behind why Mathys Tel chose Spurs over several other clubs that had expressed interest in signing him during the winter window.
While there has been no shortage of game time, the physicality of the Premier League has been a challenge, as the Bayern Munich loanee has managed just one goal in his four starts for Spurs so far.
Of course, if he is to get on the scoresheet more frequently, he will need to adapt quickly and build strong relationships with his teammates.

Mathys Tel wants to get to know Heung-min Son and co
In a recent interview with TNT Sports, Tel revealed which of his teammates he is most keen to build a relationship with.
While he mentioned Wilson Odobert, Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma—his fellow French speakers—the name at the top of his list was none other than Heung-min Son.
“The French [speaking] players, like Bissouma, Pape, Wilson, but especially Son. Son, yeah,” Tel stated.
It is clear that while the comfort of speaking French with his teammates is important, he recognises the value of forging a connection with the club captain.
Mathys Tel has to learn from the best at Tottenham
Indeed, it is crucial for the youngster to develop a strong relationship with a player like Son, who has spent over a decade in the Premier League, scoring goals left, right and centre. The South Korean is the perfect role model for any young forward at Spurs.

Stat | Total |
---|---|
Appearances | 327 |
Goals | 126 |
Assists | 71 |
Golden Boots | 1 |
If Tel is to be the long-term successor to Son, as many have speculated, it makes perfect sense for him to learn as much as he can from one of the club’s greatest players.
The more he can absorb from Son’s movement, finishing, and mentality, the better his chances of thriving in the Premier League.
