Matthew Upson makes confident prediction about Spurs final points tally

Matthew Upson has confidently asserted that Tottenham Hotspur will win both of their remaining matches against Burnley and Norwich, finishing on 71 points.

Tottenham had to beat Arsenal in what was the biggest North London Derby in decades if they wished to have a realistic shot of pipping their fierce rivals to fourth place.

That is exactly what Antonio Conte’s men did as they produced a commanding performance to ease to a 3-0 victory, aided by an Arsenal capitulation midway into the first half, conceding two goals and getting a man sent off in the space of 15 minutes.

Spurs will now have an opportunity to pile even more pressure on Mikel Arteta’s men by going two points above them with a win over Burnley on Sunday, with the Gunners set to travel to St James’ Park on Monday.

Upson believes that nothing but six points against Newcastle and Everton will be enough for Arsenal if they wish to finish in fourth place.

The former West Ham defender said on BBC Radio 5 Live (12/05/2022 – 21:56) “Arsenal will have to win both of their last two games. Tottenham will win theirs. This side at home, needing what they need, I think they will beat Burnley and then they are away to Norwich.

“Arsenal have to win both games and the pressure is massively on them at the moment and the squad is depleted. It is up to Mikel Arteta to pick those players up.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think we can afford to take Burnley lightly and our form this season suggests that we are certainly capable of a slip-up. One would hope that we would carry on the momentum from the NLD win and come flying out of the traps on Sunday.
