Mauricio Pochettino admits he does not know if star will still be at Spurs next month

Mauricio Pochettino says that he does not know whether Christian Eriksen will still be at Tottenham Hotspur come the end of the European transfer window.

Eriksen was named among the substitutes for the Premier League opener against Aston Villa last weekend but made a substantial difference when he was introduced in the second half while Spurs were chasing the game against the top flight newcomers.

The Dane has under twelve months to run on his existing contract in North London and revealed shortly after the Champions League final loss that he wanted to seek a new challenge while admitting he would be interested in a move to Real Madrid (Ekstra Bladet).

With tomorrow’s trip to Manchester City ahead of Pochettino’s side, the 27-year-old must certainly be in contention to start the match despite his uncertain future.

A move to Real Madrid has to date failed to materialise with Pochettino earlier this week given their assurance to his players that their contract situations will not have any impact on his team selections (Evening Standard).

When asked by reporters at today’s pre-Man City press conference at Hotspur Way, the manager admitted he did not know what lies ahead for his playmaker.
