Mauricio Pochettino answers who he would prefer to play in the Champions League quarter final

Tottenham beat Borussia Dortmund earlier this week 4-0 on aggregate over two legs to book themselves a place in the last 8 of the Champion League. The win means that Tottenham have progressed to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2011.

This year’s tournament has been described as an open one as there are no clear favourites to take home the title, with holders Real Madrid crashing out of the tournament after losing to Ajax.

Mauricio Pochettino said after the game against BVB that he was optimistic that Spurs’ quarter final clash would be played at their new stadium. With several big hitters as well as relative minnows left in the competition, how far the Lilywhites progress will likely be dictated by the luck they have with the draw.

Pochettino, however, refused to name who he would prefer to get in the next round and instead insisted that there were no easy games at this stage of the competition.

Speaking to Football.London, the Argentine said, “No, at that point any club will be difficult.”

When asked if he would prefer to play either Ajax or Porto, he added, “No, no no, because I am not going to think and suffer. Only I will enjoy the draw. Whatever happens and I will be more than happy because to be in the quarter-finals for Tottenham is massive.

“Of course and after people agree with me or disagree with me. It’s a massive achievement. More than people think and we know inside that the achievement is massive.”
