Mauricio Pochettino claims he is in the dark over player sales

Tottenham began the defence of their Interntional Champions Cup title in terrific fashion by overcoming Italian Serie A champions, Juventus in a thriller in Singapore.

The game ended 3-2 after Harry Kane brilliantly lobbed Wojciech Szechney in the Juve goal from the halfway line in stoppage time.

The pre-season match allowed most of the Tottenham’s squad to receive an opportunity to get some minutes under the belt.

While a few players including the likes of Ben Davies, Serge Aurier, Victor Wanyama and Victor Wanyama have been left at home, Mauricio Pochettino confirmed in his pre-match press conference two days ago that the likes of Danny Rose, Vincent Janssen, and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou have remained at home as they look to complete a move away from the club ahead of the window closing (Football.London).

After the match in Singapore, the Spurs boss was once again asked about potential departures, and he insisted that the likes of Rose, Janssen, and Nkoudou could be part of his plans for next season if they are still at the club after the close of the transfer window.

Speaking during his post match press conference: Pochettino told Football.London, “I don’t have any information (on player sales). I am not in charge of that you know.

“I was so clear in my press conference the day before. I try to manage the squad in the best way possible.

“Our players when we get back to pre-season after China like I told you for different reasons if they are there and they are still our players then of course they will be involved.

“It will be no problem. For different reasons the club takes some decisions and I cannot explain more. It’s not my situation.”

Based on these comments, it looks extremely unlikely that Rose will still be at the club. It will be a real shame to lose him as his performances in the second half of last season suggested that the England international was getting back to his best.
