Mauricio Pochettino explains why he was in attendance for Barcelona B match

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has explained why he was in attendance to watch Barcelona B in action.

Pochettino was spotted in the crowd at the Mini Estadi for Barcelona B’s 2-1 win against UE Cornella with his presence raising some eyebrows.

Spurs fans should not be concerned after the manager revealed that he was in Barcelona at the request of the Catalan Football Federation to attend a conference which was also attended by members of his backroom staff including Jesus Perez and Toni Jiminez to talk to Catalan coaches about their Premier League experience.

With Tottenham not in action until Saturday for the visit of Chelsea to Wembley due to the international break, the Argentine has been keeping himself involved in football rather than jetting off for a rest.

The majority of the Spurs first team have been playing in matches for their country which has meant his training sessions at Hotspur Way have been somewhat on the short side of those with experience.

Pochettino told Sky Sports: “We are going to talk about football,”

“The Catalan Federation asked us to go there and talk with the Catalan coaches, and I think it is a great opportunity to share, and explain how the Premier League is and Tottenham.”
