Mauricio Pochettino makes bizarre Harry Kane comparison with Chelsea player

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has somewhat surprisingly compared his striker, Armando Broja, to former Tottenham Hotspur man, Harry Kane, insisting the Albanian has real potential to go to the top of the game.

Harry Kane and Mauricio Pochettino, of course, forged a great relationship during their shared time at Tottenham. Indeed, it was Pochettino who really helped to nurture Kane into the player he is today and made him the focal point of the Spurs attack.

Both have now moved on, with Pochettino finding his way to Chelsea this summer, via a stint with PSG. Kane, meanwhile, made the big switch to Bayern Munich in the summer, leaving behind a fantastic legacy as Tottenham‘s all-time top goalscorer (GOAL).

It’s safe to say Armando Broja has a long way to go before he can be put in the same bracket as Kane. The Chelsea man has spent time on loan at Vitesse in the Netherlands, and with Southampton in the Premier League during the 2021/22 campaign.

Since returning to Chelsea, Broja has been in and around the first-team, but injuries have hampered his development. He has just three goals and two assists in 37 appearances for the Blues (Transfermarkt).

Broja can follow in Kane’s footsteps, apparently

However, one day, Broja could be an ‘amazing striker’ just like Kane, or at least that’s what his current manager, Pochettino thinks.

Pochettino said (via Fabrizio Romano): “His potential is massive, he can be an amazing striker. I always compare it to Harry Kane… Loan to Leyton Orient, Norwich, spent time finding his real balance… then he started to perform, that’s when we started to see his real potential.”

I’m sorry, but Armando Broja will never even get close to Harry Kane’s ability levels and attacking returns. Kane is a generational talent. Broja is a striker who belongs in the bottom half of the Premier League, at best.
