Mauricio Pochettino receives high praise from Premier League counterpart

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner has praised Mauricio Pochettino ahead of tomorrow’s fixture.

Wagner’s side are currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table having failed to win any of their opening six matches. In contrast, Tottenham have won their last two matches, which ended a run of three successive defeats.

The Terriers boss has hailed Pochettino’s ability to nurture players to get the best out of them.

Tottenham are expected to call upon Harry Kane and Jan Vertonghen for the away match after both were rested for the Carabao Cup victory against Watford at Stadium MK on Wednesday evening.

Despite their poor start to the season, Wagner has admitted that he is looking forward to the visit of Tottenham. Last season, Spurs put in one of their best displays of the campaign with an emphatic 4-0 win courtesy of a Harry Kane hat-trick and a Ben Davies solo effort.

Wagner told Sky Sports: “I can’t wait,” Wagner said. “It’s so exciting to be playing Tottenham, with one of the best managers in the world.

“My relationship (with Pochettino) is two games, two defeats and no goals – not the best one, but I’m a big fan of what he has done in the Premier League so far.

“He’s always able to find players, develop players, sometimes players who are not the biggest names in world football, but he turned them into some of the biggest names.

“This is something very special. He’s created success for this football club and this is why I’m a big admirer of what Mauricio is doing.”
