Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Ryan Sessegnon is still at least two weeks away from making a return to the Tottenham squad at Hotspur Way.
The 23-year-old, who can play both as a left-back and on the left side of attack, is yet to appear for Tottenham under Postecoglou. In fact, he hasn’t even trained with his new manager yet.
This is unfortunate for Sessegnon, seeing as Spurs have been in short supply of left-sided players at times this season, with Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon, Brennan Johnson and Richarlison also spending time on the sidelines.
Ryan Sessegnon is still not ready for Spurs return
Going into the game against Everton this weekend, Spurs are without the suspended Destiny Udogie, meaning Postecoglou may have to turn to a makeshift option.
The Australian has now admitted that Sessegnon is still a couple of weeks away and Tottenham will not rush him back into action too soon. It remains to be seen whether he can play his way into Postecoglou’s plans in the second half of the season.
Postecoglou said (Football London): “Sess is still a couple of weeks away, maybe more. We have to be really careful about when we integrate him.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
I suspect that Sessegnon is essentially getting fit for a January loan or a summer transfer away. That probably would have happened last summer had it not been for his latest injury. A very talented and still very young player, I’m sure he just needs a reset at another club.
