‘Maybe that has run its course’ – Kane gives verdict on Gareth Bale’s future

Harry Kane has revealed that he is unsure whether Gareth Bale would return to Tottenham next season but he admitted that the Welshman is loved by his teammates and Spurs fans.

There have been plenty of contradictory reports regarding Bale’s future over the past couple of months.

While some sources have suggested that the 31-year-old would be in favour of playing out the final year of his contract at Real Madrid if Zinedine Zidane departs, others state that Spurs have the option to re-sign him for the same terms as his current loan deal.

Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, did not give away much in an interview he did a couple of weeks ago, insisting that the three parties will have a discussion over his client’s future at the end of the season.

Kane, whose own future at Tottenham has been put into doubt, is certainly hopeful that a deal can be sorted that would see Bale return.

When asked about the on-loan Madrid star’s future at Spurs, the England captain told JOE’s YouTube channel (as relayed by TBR Football): “Who knows, that is obviously his decision. I think he has one year left on his Madrid contract.

“That is something he is going to have to discuss, but of course, we love having him at Spurs.

“He’s been at Madrid for quite a few years, maybe that has run its course. He might’ve just fancied a change, coming home, he’s loved by the fans.

“I’m speaking for him but I’m not entirely sure of his situation – but he enjoys playing here.”

On the face of it, it seems like Bale’s chances of returning to Spurs next season has dramatically improved by Jose Mourinho’s exit. Barnett seemed to hint earlier this month that the 31-year-old was constrained by the former Spurs boss’ tactics.
