Ivan Perisic has thanked Neymar publicly on social media after the Brazil legend embraced the 33-year-old’s son following the Selecao’s elimination from the World Cup at the hands of Croatia on Friday.
Neymar thought he had sent Brazil through to the semi-finals of the competition when he scored a brilliant solo goal in the first half of extra time.
However, Croatia equalised through Bruno Petkovic in the dying stages of the encounter to send the game to penalties, and the European side emerged the winners in the shootout, thus making the semi-finals for the second consecutive World Cup.
Several Brazilian stars, including Neymar, were in tears at their elimination, which is understandable as it could potentially even be the PSG star’s last World Cup.
Despite his heartbreak, the 30-year-old took time to acknowledge Perisic’s son, who made his way to the centre circle to express his commiserations to the Brazilian superstar after the penalty shootout (The Sun).
The Tottenham man posted a video of the pair embracing and wrote on Instagram: “Thanks @neymarjr .. means a lot to him.”
