When he joined Tottenham in March, Roberto De Zerbi brought Marcello Quinto as Senior Professional Development Phase Coach and Marcattilio Marcattilii as First Team Fitness Coach.
Another followed in May in Enrico Venturelli, joining Bruno, Andreas Georgson, Cameron Campbell, Fabian Otte, Stuart Lewis and Dean Brill.
The prospect of a potential Sandro return too remains an intriguing one, with De Zerbi favouring large coaching set-ups, describing himself and his assistants as “like one person because we’re always together”.
Heading into the summer, the work on the training pitch will be of paramount importance as De Zerbi looks to implement his philosophy and ensure a much better campaign this time around.
That’s why we’re taking a look at the men tasked with getting the Spurs squad into shape – starting with the trio that followed De Zerbi to N17.

Tottenham’s new fitness coach was banned for two games for biting a player
Marco Marcattilii is a De Zerbi loyalist, working with him for more than 10 years now. They first joined forces at Foggia – where Marcattilii was banned for two games for biting an opposing player – and have been side-by-side ever since.
Through Palermo, Benevento, Sassuolo, Shakhtar, Brighton and Marseille, Marcattilii has been a constant in De Zerbi’s backroom set-up.
Marcattilii will be tasked with creating individualised training programs for each player.
Considering Spurs’ injury woes throughout the 2025/26 campaign, where the club lost the most days to injury of any Premier League side (a combined 370 games missed across all competitions), he could prove pivotal in helping Tottenham turn the page next season.
Marcello Quinto knows what it takes to play for a De Zerbi team
Marcello Quinto’s relationship with De Zerbi started as a player at Foggia.
Quinto plied his trade as a defensive midfielder and spent the entirety of his career in Italy. He retired in 2020, holds a UEFA A licence and first worked with De Zerbi in a coaching capacity at Brighton.
Prior to that, he’d been working alongside former Liverpool midfielder, Alberto Aquilani at Fiorentina’s youth team.
Quinto is said to be very close to De Zerbi on a personal level and strikes a good relationship with the players. He plays a key role in bringing energy to training sessions.
Olympic experience for one member of Tottenham’s backroom staff
Enrico Venturelli joined the club in May, with his role said to be a translator – but is that the true extent of it?
It marks the fourth time he has worked with De Zerbi, the times prior being at Shakhtar, Brighton and Marseille. Venturelli’s experience before that includes working for FIFA and UEFA in operations, and as a project manager for the Olympic Games in Sochi 2014, Rio 2016 and Pyeongchang 2018.
When Venturelli joined De Zerbi at Marseille, he regularly attended press conferences, translated instructions in training, relayed press reports and acted as a liaison for the communications department.
His focus there was said to be on the organisational aspects, managing everything De Zerbi wants and needs. He was essentially described as an important personal assistant.
