‘Messssiiii’ – Spurs pair take to social media to react to rumoured target’s solo effort

Ryan Sessegnon and Kyle Walker-Peters have both reacted to Marcus Edwards’ solo strike in Vitoria Guimaraes’ 2-0 win over Vitoria Setubal on Tuesday.

Edwards was considered one of the most talented youngsters to come through the Spurs ranks in recent years, with Mauricio Pochettino even likening the winger’s style to that of Lionel Messi (Sky Sports).

The 21-year-old has started to justify a lot of his early potential since he left Spurs to join Vitoria Guimaraes last summer.

Edwards’ performances have seemingly caught Tottenham’s eye, with reports indicating that the club are trying to take advantage of the 50 per cent sell-on clause they have on the winger to bring him back to North London (Desportivo de Guimaraes via Record).

Edwards is continuing to impress amidst the speculation surrounding his future.

On Tuesday, he broke the deadlock for the home side by wrong-footing two defenders with fantastic trickery before slamming the ball into the net.

Sessegnon, who played alongside Edwards for England age-group sides, responded to the video by simply writing, ‘Messsssssi’ followed by the love hearts for eyes emoji, while Walker-Peters wrote, ‘Stop it, bro’ in response to the footage of the goal.

Spurs Web Opinion

There was never really any doubts regarding Edwards’ talent. It was his attitude that there were question marks over. I can see why the club would want to bring him back as the 50 per cent sell-on clause potentially allows us to complete the deal for a fraction of his market value. Perhaps Mourinho believes he can bring the best out of the young winger.
