MF looks ahead to Spurs vs Villa

Aston Villa come to White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon. It’s our seventh game in 22 days so next week’s international break couldn’t have come at a better time, especially if we can follow up last weekend’s coupon buster with another win.

Villa’s season has been more stop than start so far as Paul Lambert shuffles his pack, beds his new signings in, cuts out the dead wood, makes his mark, and stamps his authority on all the other clichés employed to describe a new man taking over at the helm.

Their team against West Brom contained a number of unfamiliar names, Vlaar, Bennett, Lowton, El Ahmedi and Benteke to name but five and achieved a draw that these days is not a bad result against the Baggies. Previous to that they’d managed a fine 4-2 win at Man City so things are generally looking up.

So we’ll be in for a tough game, especially if they sit back, we’ve not proved particularly adept so far at breaking teams down.

Neil Swarbrick is the ref, as far as I can work out we’ve never had him before.

On paper we should get three points, on grass, it’s anyone’s guess.
