Michael Brown highlights why Mourinho could play a key part in Spurs’ ability to lure players

Former Tottenham midfielder Michael Brown believes that Jose Mourinho could give the club an edge in their quest to attract top players in the transfer window.

Despite the financial crunch due to coronavirus pandemic, reports suggest that Spurs remain confident that it will not affect their transfer plans this summer (Daily Mail).

The Athletic have reported that the transfer market could see a major shift this summer with fees being lowered and free agents being in more demand than ever before.

They also reveal that the situation could be set up for some bigger clubs to exploit smaller clubs, who will be forced to sell their most valued assets.

Brown feels that Tottenham will have no problems attracting players in the summer despite the poor season they’ve had with Mourinho proving to be a major lure.

He hoped that the 57-year-old stays in North London for the long haul.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown said: “When Mourinho took over at Spurs everyone was wondering where it would take them but he gives them that wow factor. You would want to sign.

“The only issue was how long Mourinho would be at Spurs. That is the only thing that is different to normal. It seems to have settled down and it has not been too volatile.

“Hopefully, Jose Mourinho stays for a long period of time and attracts players.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite the negative image that Mourinho has with some fans and parts of the press, it is clear that players respect him very much and want to work with him. Additionally, given his experience of having worked around Europe, he is probably one of the most connected people in football and I’m sure the club will be looking to use that to our advantage in the transfer market.
