Michael Owen delivers his prediction ahead of Newcastle vs Tottenham

Former Liverpool and Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has offered his score prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to St James’ Park tomorrow afternoon.

The North Londoners will be looking to spoil the celebrations among the Toon Army at a sold out stadium following their recent takeover.

A win against Aston Villa just before the international break injected some bit of positivity the Spurs fans and will be looking to follow it up against Steve Bruce’s side.

Newcastle, meanwhile, come into the game off the back of an extremely poor run of form and are winless in the Premier League so far this season (D3 L4), with no side conceding more goals than the Magpies after seven games this term (16).

Owen believes that Spurs are entering a crucial part of the campaign and need to start registering victories.

The former forward, however, believes that both sides will have to settle for a point on Tyneside.

He told BetVictor: “It’s all change at St James’s Park. Some of the scenes we saw outside the ground after the takeover was made official were fantastic and those fans deserve some better years. It’s been a week full of speculation, so I’m curious how this will affect them on the pitch.

“It’s been an inconsistent start to the season for Spurs, but they responded to the North London Derby defeat by beating Aston Villa last time out. This will be a crucial period of the season for Nuno Espirito Santo, and he needs to start getting wins.

“The atmosphere at this game will be special. It’ll be a packed house and I’m looking forward to this. I don’t think Newcastle will have enough quality to claim the win, but I can see them getting a point. I’ll say 1-1.”
