Michael Owen on who will win between Bournemouth and Tottenham

Former Real Madrid and England forward Michael Owen has shared his match prediction for Tottenham Hotspur’s match at Bournemouth tomorrow lunchtime.

Tottenham will be looking to seal qualification for next season’s Champions League with a victory to go into Wednesday’s semi-final second leg against Ajax full of confidence.

Eddie Howe’s men currently find themselves in 14th place in the Premier League table having already secured their top flight status for another season and Spurs will be hoping to find that the Cherries have taken their foot off the gas with nothing further to play for.

Spurs will once again be without Harry Kane (ankle), Serge Aurier (hamstring), Harry Winks (groin) and Erik Lamela (hamstring) while Jan Vertonghen is also expected to sit it out following his head injury on Tuesday night.

Owen believes that Spurs will come away from the south coast with the win that they need to dine at European football’s top table once again next season.

He told BetVictor: “Bournemouth are without a win in their last five home league games although they have scored eight times in their last two matches on the road. Spurs are up against it in the Champions League semi-final 2nd leg with Ajax in Amsterdam midweek, but make no mistake they are not out of the tie by any means. Spurs need the points to cement a place in the top four and I feel they can grind out a result.

“Spurs have not picked up a point on their travels since the end of January but did win 11 times on the road prior to that and they can maintain their good record against the Cherries having won six of the seven previous PL meetings between the clubs.”
