Michael Owen on who will win between Cardiff and Tottenham

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has given his prediction for this evening’s Premier League clash between Cardiff City and Tottenham Hotspur.

After the surprise 3-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Wembley on Saturday, Spurs find themselves under pressure to secure all three points or could realistically kiss any outside chance of a title tilt goodbye.

The defeat to Wolves last time out brought to an end a run of five consecutive wins. Spurs have won the last four league meetings between themselves and Cardiff, winning the last three 1-0.

Tottenham right-back Serge Aurier could return, having recently returned to training following a groin injury.

Mauricio Pochettino is still without Victor Wanyama, Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier and Erik Lamela as the club’s frustrating injury issues continue.

Owen believes that Spurs will bounce back to winning ways at the Cardiff City Stadium to begin 2019 in the best possible way.

He told BetVictor: “A great win for Cardiff at the King Power Stadium last weekend, but Spurs are another side who I feel will bounce back having conceded three late goals and all three points to Wolves at Wembley on Saturday.”
