Michael Owen on who will win between Spurs and Chelsea

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Chelsea.

The London rivals meet in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday with fourth spot up for grabs.

Victory for Jose Mourinho’s side against his former employer would see Spurs leapfrog the Blues into fourth based on goal difference with the pair level on 29 points.

Spurs have experienced an upturn in form under the Portuguese having won four of their last five top flight matches whilst Chelsea have lost four of their last five (Premier League).

Owen has tipped Tottenham to take all three points along with the bragging rights from the last fixture before the festive period.

He told BetVictor: “The last Premier League game before Christmas is a cracking London derby with Frank Lampard going head-to-head with his former manager Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge for the first time.

“It is worth noting, however, that Lampard’s Derby County won a League Cup tie at Old Trafford on penalties last September when Mourinho was manager of Manchester United.

“Chelsea have lost four of their last five in the league while Spurs have won three of their last four and I think it will be the hosts who take maximum points from what promises to be an entertaining game between these two great rivals.

“Tip: Spurs to win 2-1.”

Opinion

Spurs will certainly be buoyed following last Sunday’s last-gasp win against Wolves with the confidence starting to come back after a tough start to the season while Lampard’s Chelsea are somewhat in the middle of a rut.
