Michael Owen on who will win between Wolves and Spurs

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has shared his match prediction ahead of the Premier League clash between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur.

Jose Mourinho’s side make the trip to the Black Country looking to get back to winning ways after a difficult ten days in the top flight.

Spurs have dropped from top of the table at the beginning of the month to sixth after failing to win any of their last three league matches.

Owen believes that Wolves may look to make amends for their recent run of poor form by trying to take the game to Tottenham, only for Mourinho’s men to look to hit them on the counter.

The tactic was successfully utilised by the Portuguese in the matches against Manchester City and Arsenal.

The North Londoners will be looking for a significantly better performance than what was witnessed in the 2-0 loss to Leicester City prior to Christmas.

He told BetVictor: “Tottenham will want to forget last week fast and get back on track away to Wolves.

“Jose Mourinho’s sides’ title hopes took a huge dent, with a defeat to Liverpool and a home defeat to Leicester rubbing salt in their wounds.

“That said, they play a Wolves side that are tame in front of goal just now. These are the types of fixtures where I really fancy Spurs. Wolves should come out and play, and if they do, I think the away side will take advantage on the counter.

“Wolves 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur.”
