Michel Vorm sends emotional response to Toby Alderweireld’s Spurs exit

Michel Vorm has taken to social media to react emotionally to Toby Alderweireld’s departure, hinting that the Belgian’s exit signals the end of an era for Spurs.

The last few days have been an emotional ride for Spurs fans, with two long-serving fan favourites in Alderweireld and Erik Lamela leaving the club.

Their exits follow those of Cristian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele and Danny Rose in recent times, leaving only a handful of players from the heydays under Mauricio Pochettino.

Vorm initially left Spurs in 2019 but the experienced goalkeeper returned to the club the subsequent season following Hugo Lloris’ injury.

The Dutchman returned to Hotspur Way again in April to serve as the interim goalkeeping coaching as a part of Ryan Mason’s staff.

The 37-year-old has now taken to Instagram to post a picture of the original Dutch-Belgian contingent at Spurs who have now all left the club.

It is quite strange to think that we longer have any Belgians left in the squad. Despite the fact that we did not win silverware, I have no doubt that this squad of players will be remembered fondly by Spurs fans.
